On June 8th, the Methodist International Church hosted FHK Music’s highly anticipated end-of-year concert. Over three 2-hour sessions, a whopping 130 talented students took to the stage to wow the audience. Parents (and teachers!) were clearly emotional as they watched their children perform with such passion and skill.
The 20 teachers from the school were there to accompany and cheer on their students. You could feel the caring, supportive atmosphere as the audience applauded each performance. We heard all kinds of instruments – lots of pianists and violinists, but also guitarists, ukuleles, flutes, saxophones, and singers.
In addition to the individual performances, our amazing pop choir groups also blessed us with their incredible vocal talents. The crowd was absolutely captivated by their voices and energy.
One of the highlights was the adorable shows put on by our Stanley and TKO music induction groups, made up of 3-5 year old students. Despite their young age, these little ones were so brave and cute as they performed for this large audience…
During the second part of the concert, we also held a special “Secret Student” trophy ceremony. This was to recognize the winners of our now-famous student contest that was held back in March 2024. The crowd cheered enthusiastically as we celebrated our talented winners, Armand and Rose.
At the end of each round, the teachers delighted the students by singing a special “You were perfect today” song to celebrate their achievements.
Two things really stood out at this concert. First off, the level of our students has improved so much this year! We were blown away seeing how much progress they’ve made since the last Christmas concert. Our teachers are super proud of them.
Secondly, more and more students are playing and singing pop and rock pieces. This shows that FHK Music isn’t just a classical music school, but a true 50-50 classical/pop-rock academy. Like we always say, “we love everything in music!”
This musical diversity is going to be taken even further next year, with some exciting new activities launching in September: Orchestra (for 3rd year and + students), pop-rock bands, ukulele group classes…
The end-of-year concert was a truly amazing event. The caring atmosphere, student achievements, and obvious pride of parents and teachers made it an unforgettable moment. We can’t wait to see what our students have in store for us next!
