First Year Program Details (3-Year Cycle)
– Music Theory:
Level 1 note reading, both clefs
Basic rhythms and rhythmic games
Dynamics and gap-filling dictations
Engaging games and exercises
Exploration of musical intervals
– Music History:
Study of major musical periods from the Middle Ages to the modern era
Overview of key characteristics, prominent composers, and preferred instruments (including in-class demonstrations)
Introduction to the symphony orchestra
Exploration of the world of opera
