Our flute lessons provide a clear yet flexible framework designed to inspire and educate students effectively. Each session is structured in three parts:
Class Structure:
- Technical Exercises: Focus on developing essential flute skills and techniques.
- Classical/Technical Piece: Introduce a foundational piece to build technique and musical expression.
- Modern/Fun Piece: Engage with a contemporary song to keep motivation high and make learning enjoyable.
Key Focus Areas:
- Fundamentals: From the beginning, we emphasize posture, breath control, finger dexterity, fluidity, and musicality.
- Personalized Song Selection: Collaboratively choose songs with the student, regularly updating selections to maintain enthusiasm throughout the year.
- Pitch System: Students can choose between the Do-Re-Mi or C-D-E pitch systems, tailored to their preferences.
For Beginners:
- Duets: Enjoy playing duets with the teacher to enhance learning and develop listening skills.
- Theoretical Integration: Apply music theory concepts (keys, pitches, rhythms) practically during lessons.
- Possibility to use a Junior flute (plastic) for our youngest students
Individual Progress:
- Each student progresses at their own pace, receiving plenty of encouragement and praise, with a strong emphasis on a pressure-free learning environment.
Performance Opportunities:
- Students can showcase their skills by performing solo on stage during FHK Music student recitals, held twice a year, in front of a supportive audience.
Organization:
- At the end of each class, students receive clear assignments for the following week, ensuring nothing is forgotten.
- Flute books can be purchased by parents or through the teacher, with costs re-invoiced at purchase price.
Additional Opportunities:
- Participation in weekly music theory & history group classes for young flutists.
- Possibility to prepare for ABRSM grade exams through our specialized Mestro offer.
Join us for a musical journey that fosters joy and growth in every student!
