They just arrived in Hong Kong, they are young, they are successful, they sing beautifully and they want to share their passion! We are thrilled to welcome Mikey and Amel in the team and to introduce them to you:
Mikey is 27 and is originally from the north of England. From a young age, Mikey had always had the urge to perform but it wasn’t until he was 15 when he picked up a guitar that things became more serious: he began to post YouTube videos of himself singing and playing the guitar, eventually leading to management and recording deals around the world.
During his journey in the music industry, Mikey has accomplished major success:
• Placing 7th on the UK TV show the Xfactor in 2014.
• Performed at Wembley stadium in front of 75,000 people.
• Signed two record deals, one in the UK and the other in LA.
• Had his songs featured on European TV shows. (Killing Eve, Cold Feet)
• Played 3 headline tours across the UK
• Had a number 1 selling album (independent artist charts)
After 2 years in LA, Mikey then decided to head to university in London to study what he had been working on pretty much his whole adult life, Music and Songwriting.
During his 3 years in London, Mikey obtained a degree and discovered skills such as:
• How to write and record music.
• Musical Theory
• How to understand music contracts.
• How to use your voice to its full potential.
Last year, Mikey used these skills and taught at a school in the UK but now, having recently just moved to Hong Kong he’s ready to share his knowledge with others and he’s very excited to get started. He teaches both singing and guitar in English.
Amel is 22, she is originally from Paris, France but moved and grew up in Hong Kong at 12.
Amel started singing and performing before she could even speak and learned how to play both guitar and piano which allowed her to start writing and performing her original songs at the age of 13.
As Amel grew she started to perform at luxury events for clients such as Hermes, and Lucy Till Wedding luxury Agencies in Hong Kong, France and the UK.
As well as performing in many countries, Amel has professionally recorded her original material in both London in Paris.
At age 18 Amel decided to move to London to gain as much knowledge as she could and indeed graduated from the music school BIMM university with BA honours.
Amel has now made the move back to Hong Kong and is ready to share her passion of music with her future students. She teaches both singing and accompaniment piano.
