If you missed it, you missed something special. On Sunday, March 22nd, The Wanch — Hong Kong’s iconic live music bar in Wan Chai — was buzzing with an energy rarely seen on a Sunday afternoon. The legendary venue (whose owner, Keith, is also one of our music school dads!) opened its stage to a new generation of rock stars for the very first edition of the FHK Music Battle of the Bands 2026.
For nearly two and a half hours, seven student rock bands delivered an epic, high-level showdown that had the audience cheering, clapping and singing along from start to finish. The atmosphere was pure FHK spirit: fun, supportive, vibrant, and full of community pride.
After fierce (but friendly!) competition, the jury crowned The Iconics as the very first FHK Music Battle of the Bands champions. Tight musicianship, commanding vocals, undeniable stage presence — a well-deserved victory that brought the house down.
The excitement didn’t stop with the students. Amel and Mikey‘s duo The 2 of Us charmed the crowd with Olivia Dean’s Easy to Fall in Love et Home by Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros — an intimate, heartfelt moment. Then, to close the show in cool style, Domitille and her band HolyBay delivered a stunning set that truly delighted the audience’s ears.
Head over to our Instagram page to watch the touching video testimonials from our students — their joy, their pride, their nerves before the show: it’s all there. Real FHK spirit captured in every clip.
Thank you to every band, every family, every teacher and to The Wanch for making this possible. We can’t wait for next year’s edition!
